EXHIBITIONS

We normally hold two exhibitions of members’ work each year, either at Amersham Common Village Hall or at the Chalfont St Peter Community Centre.  There is no preselection of artwork for Beechwood exhibitions.  The next exhibition will be held at Chalfont St Peter Community Centre on the 9th and 10th of May 2026.  Application forms for members to exhibit will be emailed to all and limited hard copies will be available at the Wednesday painting sessions.

Prizes are presented at our exhibitions for the best painting based on a public vote. The Visitors' Favourite Painting votes are collected during the exhibition and the prizes awarded when the event closes on the Sunday. We send invitations to exhibitions by email to everyone on our mailing list.  If you would like to join the mailing list, please read our Privacy Policy then send us an email.

CHARITY

Beechwood donates 10% of all exhibition sales income to charity.  At the AGM held in March 2025 it was agreed that the charity nominated for 2025 would be Scannappeal for both spring and autumn exhibitions.

AUTUMN EXHIBITION REPORT

Many thanks to all who helped put together our annual autumn exhibition at the weekend.  During the weekend we had a total of 233 visitors and sold 11 framed and 1 unframed paintings which was a distinct improvement on our spring show!  Some of you will have noticed the two advertising flags we purchased for our exhibitions - several visitors told us that they had seen them and come in as a result.

The figures have not been finalised yet but having taken about £1800 in sales, this resulted in £180 for Scannappeal.   After a recent sale of art books donated to us by the family of  late member Judy Redpath and the kind donation of the money from the sale of one of the paintings at the weekend, this amount has now been raised to £300.

As usual, visitors were invited to vote for their favourite painting and, as usual, it was very close at the top!!!!  The top three favourite paintings were

BAZ by Gerry Chambers with 16 votes

EVENING 1 by Ian Davenport with 14 votes

FRAGILE by Jenny Thompson with 10 votes

Many congratulations to you and to everyone else who exhibited their beautiful works of art.  The public were fairly unanimous in their praise of the standard and variety of the work.  I am attaching the list of paintings that also received votes.

Many thanks again to everyone who contributed work, time and effort making such an impressive show!
