EXHIBITIONS

We normally hold two exhibitions of members’ work each year, either at Amersham Common Village Hall or at the Chalfont St Peter Community Centre.  There is no preselection of artwork for Beechwood exhibitions.  The next exhibition will be held at Amersham Common Village Hall on the 1st and 2nd of November 2025.  Application forms for members to exhibit will be emailed to all and limited hard copies will be available at the Wednesday painting sessions.
 

Prizes are presented at our exhibitions for the best painting based on a public vote. The Visitors' Favourite Painting votes are collected during the exhibition and the prizes awarded when the event closes on the Sunday. We send invitations to exhibitions by email to everyone on our mailing list.  If you would like to join the mailing list, please read our Privacy Policy then send us an email.

CHARITY

Beechwood donates 10% of all exhibition sales income to charity.  At the AGM held in March 2025 it was agreed that the charity nominated for 2025 would be Scannappeal for both spring and autumn exhibitions.

SPRING EXHIBITION REPORT

 

We held our Spring Exhibition on 26/27 April in Chalfont St Peter Community Centre.  The exhibition attracted some 244 visitors - so much the same as our Autumn exhibition.  Generally opinions were that the standard of work was very high but that advertising could be better.  Some local people said they had no idea it was on but were passing and saw the signs outside.  This is something that we need to consider for future exhibitions particularly if we continue to use Chalfont St Peter Community Centre as it is set back from the road and not obvious to passers by.  Several people mentioned we need to use social media in a more effective way. 

 

Many thanks to the 37 people who exhibited paintings and helped set up, dismantle and take part in the exhibition.  Altogether we hung 122 paintings and displayed 44 unframed pieces of work.  Unfortunately sales were extremely low, probably due to the financial uncertainty at present, only selling 4 paintings - 3 framed and 1 unframed.  This was extremely disappointing however the kitchen sold £315 worth of refreshments and visitors donated nearly £100 at the welcome desk.    So 10% of total sales (including refreshments) and donations came to approximately £175 which we then rounded up to a healthy £200 for our chosen charity, Scannappeal.
